What your beat licence actually says
Every beat comes with a choice of licences, and each one tells you exactly what it covers before you pay. Here’s how to read them.
Before you buy: the licence sheet
Tap a beat’s licence button and every option lists the same four things:
StreamsHow many plays the song can do before you’d need a bigger licence. The top licence has no cap.
FilesWhat you download: the main file, and on higher licences the trackouts (separate stems for your engineer).
UsesWhere the song can go: streaming, music videos, live shows.
CreditHow to credit the producer when you release.
Rule of thumb: pick the licence for where the song could end up, not where it is today. Things like putting the song in a film, a TV show or an ad need written permission on top of any licence, so ask first.
After you buy: signing the contract
1
Read it in sections. The contract is split into short sections (who’s involved, what’s licensed, what you can and can’t do, credit, and so on). Each one has a plain-English note.
2
Tick each section. “I understand this section” on each one. The sign button unlocks once they’re all ticked.
3
Add your P.R.O. and sign. If you’re not with a P.R.O. yet, “Not registered” is a fine answer. Type your name and sign.
Your signed contracts are all at epikbeats.net/contracts. That’s your proof you’re allowed to use each beat, so it’s worth knowing where it is. Bought a beat you haven’t used yet? Mark it Not using this yet there, and we’ll stop reminding you to register a song for it.
